Scientific literacy is the understanding of science-based concepts and the ability to read and write about them. In lab, we dealt with multiple examples of scientific literacy. We looked at numerous scientific articles as well as writing our own paper about the cricket lab. We also read different scientific texts to write our species report including field guides, scientific articles, magazines, and blogs. Demonstrating scientific literacy and the ability to communicate science-based information is important for college students because no matter what field we go into, we should have the capability of understanding scientific literacy so we can form our own opinions based off of facts.
