Mission Statement

Technology is beneficial to teaching in many ways. Even though it certainly makes lessons, grading, and classroom management easier, using technology can truly engage, enhance, and extend a student’s learning. Along with this, technology is a powerful tool to use for differentiation. Students can use the technology that teachers provide to express what they know and who they are with a lot more ease, creativity and independence than they would be able to traditionally. Technology also gives teachers more flexibility to make their lessons unique and entertaining.

There are various scenarios in the classroom where using technology would be useful. For example, a way that technology supports differentiation is through Seesaw. Seesaw is an excellent way of allowing students to express themselves in multiple ways of communication. To provide answers to assignments, students have the option of traditionally typing their responses, recording their voices, or recording themselves in a video that they can post on their blog. Seesaw is also a great way to manage a teachers classroom because they can keep track of their students assignments  and what type of learners they are (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc.) judging by how they do their assignments.

Another way teachers can utilize technology is by using Kahoot. Kahoot is an easy to use assessment of learning that takes a game-like form. Kahoot engages students by having them answer timed questions on a device that still lets students remain anonymous, but also lets them feel like a part of a learning community because everyone is taking part in the activity.

In conclusion, there are so many ways that technology can better a classroom that I intend on using in the future. Differentiation, classroom management, and the Triple E framework are all essential things to consider when implementing technology into a classroom.
