The article I plan on incorporating in my paper is, “What Is Beauty? And the Importance of Beauty in Our Lives,” by Mark Goddard. This article talked a lot about the different forms beauty takes in our lives and why we should appreciate it more. For example, some of the topics included the importance of beauty, beauty as the center of life, the beauty of nature, and the beauty of people. I chose the article because my paper will mostly revolve around how myself, and the American society views beauty as well as the role it plays in our lives.

All of the podcasts were so interesting, but I especially found Olivia and Emily’s podcast exceptionally compelling. They interviewed Bethany Magdiarz who is an ELL teacher and she told a story about how her students went to the telling room and shared an essay about their personal life experiences. This will be useful in my essay because experiences comes up in both the topic of the essay as well as in Armstrong’s essay about beauty.

I will also be using Taylor Fowler’s podcast about her athletic trainer Meg, who went hunting for the first time with her husband. In the podcast, Meg described in vivid detail how she watched the forest come alive and how she now sees the forest as art. I plan on using this as proof that nature can be a beautiful experience just in itself.

I like to two podcasts that you have chosen to incorporate in your essay. I feel like that they both correlate with bringing things out and “coming alive.” This could be a very beautiful and strong essay. Just make sure that the two correlate with each other in your essay because they do have completely different settings.

Taylor, I agree with your basis for choosing your podcasts. I especially relate to the one about nature because the woods is a huge part of my life back home, and I have grown to appreciate it’s beauty more than anything. I think you have a good foundation for a great paper, and while you don’t have a plethora of different information, I think you can still do a lot with what you have.
