I want to begin by saying that I am a firm believer in the arts and all the good they do for us. I have always been very interested in art for as long as I can remember. My family always kept me involved in the arts as a kid and my favorite Christmas tradition was going to see “A Christmas Carol” at our local theater a few days before the holiday. Over time, I learned to play the trumpet and piano and remained loving musicals so naturally, when I listened to “how does music transform us?”, I had an immediate interest to pick that TED talk for my paper. However, I ended up choosing “how can public art projects transform rough neighborhoods?” because of the good it did for the communities and further emphasized my concluding thoughts about Southan’s article, that art CAN heal us and CAN help for people in need. Anyway, I do not believe art is a waste of time at all. In fact, I think everyone should take some time out of their day and experience the healing power that any form of art has to offer.

Yay! I’m so happy to read this. You write art can help people in need. You also write that it can heal. This is the beginning of a thesis. How can it accomplish this? (I have a feeling that you have a lot of answers to this question.) Keep up the great work.
